Together with the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), the Arctic Office organized the event "The Disruption of Arctic Exceptionalism: Managing Environmental Change in Light of Russian Aggression" on June 5 in Berlin. The event was based on a recent report on this topic (see here). Authors of the report and other experts joined this event. Discussions were held on the geopolitical and climate challenges in the Arctic, especially the current and future situation with Russia and the continuation of the Arctic Council. The event concluded with a lively question and discussion round with an interested audience, followed by a reception in the historic DGAP buildings.

We were especially pleased to welcome Evan T. Bloom from the Wilson Center in Washington D.C./USA, Dr. Franziska Hagedorn from the German Foreign Office, Dr. Erik F. Øverland from the Norwegian Embassy in Berlin and Dr. Kira Vinke from DGAP. The event was moderated by Volker Rachold (Arctic Office).
